when the whistle comes down

I believe that today I must work, and slide whistle. I think that learning the notes in the single octave in a slide whistle is noble, but I fear that only "Born Free" has notes that fit in a single octave. No, indeed, a slide whistle is about bringing out one's inner Moog. One uses a slide whistle to make theremin sounds and bird sounds and train sounds and Twilight Zone sounds.
When I was a child, I thought as a child, now that I am a man, I think the way a slide whistle sounds. I am ready to leave learning behind, because the noise of a slide whistle, and a kazoo, is more intriguing than all of the arts and all of the muses. Whatever that means.
