on connection
Nov. 2nd, 2011 11:18 pmI drove down Kingsley Avenue in Garland, taking a side roads way home in light of an oncoming storm. The cold front moved earnestly in this afternoon, driving temperatures down 20 degrees or so. On my right,on the sidewalk, a man in his twenties rode a small bicycle. As he pedaled, he talked earnestly on his cellular telephone. I like, in a way, that people now use their technology to stay in constant contact with friends and family. This makes sense to me. But I wonder, a bit, if people lose the ability to enjoy solitude and the sheer pleasure of being, for a few moments, alone and unreachable.
