I felt so busy at work today, despite going in very early and leaving very late. A great deal got done, but I have much more to do. I guess that the nice thing about being busy is that one can only look at the tasks ahead. No worries about what this means or that means--there are deadlines to meet and tactics to plot. I'll bet the big picture is hanging in a Holiday Inn, and it is kinda plein air.

plein air

Okay, that's the second time I've seen that term today. What's it mean?

(yeah, I could just go to dictionary.com or google it, but making you do all my work for me this is more fun.)

The plein air artists were most prominent in the decades just before and during ww II. They saw what the post-impressionists had done with light in nature pix, and decided to use local light (usually the CA mediterranean sun) to create similar effects, with a very US flavor.
Plein air tends to be a good watch, landscapes in which the 'scape itself is less important than the light in which it is presented.
