I just read a good poem by [personal profile] msggoat. Then, during the comments round (which we on LJ know to call "Endless Jeopardy"), I had the greatest idea!

I will enter the Bulwer-Lytton contest for the worst first paragraph of a novel ever written. I will practice a new plan, hip, Vegassy and so George Clooney, that nobody will ever beat. I will take one of my very own poems, convert it into prose format, and THAT, my friends, will be the winning entry!

Thanks for the mention.

I lost my job at a university medical/social sciences library about a year ago. While I worked there, I was collecting lots of "misreadings" of medical phraseology. Thought this year's existential crisis was a good time to pull out the "pain" phrases.

Looking forward to seeing the Bulwer-Lytton entry. It's fun to try to be good at being bad at something, yes?

I almost wrote cool, but I guess cool is not the word, really. Interesting is like it.

Bad poetry is really my forte. The things I've published, relatively few though they be, all qualify. My self published booklet qualifies in spades. I'll have to see which one is the most B-L worthy.

I was so pleased to receive it. Thanks! I listened to the first several songs last night, and will give my first listen to the rest today. I've liked everything I've heard so far, and most of the material is new to me. I'm so impressed with the jewel case insert, and that you put in the effort.
Much appreciated. Very thoughtful indeed.

How could you possibly not like it? I think " Lonely Girls Order Coffee" is one of the best--if not the absolute best-- mix cd anyone ever sent me!

I just finished a solid first listen today. Simply fab. It was great! Hey, does this mean you have left the Kingdom of Heaven and are now in cooler climes? Attention, K Mart Shoppers, Espvivisection has headed for the exits!

I remember my junior year of college...it was when college actually got fun! But it sounds so...old....to say stuff like that.

I just finished having a lunch of pizza and Clue, the board game, with my friend Brian. We decided you definitely can't play it with just two people.

Yes, I am now in Portland. I'm sitting in an unconditioned rom with the window open and I'm not sweating profusely (or, even at all!). I think that says everything about which place is heaven and which place is hell. <g>

All that is Gold does not Glitter

"Come with me to the fire festival...
let us burn each other blind...
let us dance, let us dance away,
dance to the end of time, oh,
come with me to the Islands of the Dead,
to the soulhouse, to the firehouse,
smoke and ash of laughter in your head,
sweet laughter, hereafter, ever after,
in the Islands of the Dead....."....

---Bill Nelson, from "Islands of the Dead"

it's all a matter of how hot you wish your Heaven to be.

That is an excellent point.

My corner of heaven is always snowy, I'd wager.
