This notion of interaction and LJ "community" has now moved me from mere navel staring introspection to my much preferred role of simple amusement.

I now imagine starting the "Introspection" community. Open to all, all are free to post to it. Only one rule: all posts must be made
"private". No public posts, no friends posts.
But it'll be a "real" community, because we'll all know everybody posts there. We just won't know what they post.

Imagine: no flame, no discussion, no insensitivity, no grammar police.

The perfect community. We could even have a theme song, by John Cage.

Introspection... hmmmmmm...

I like this idea! Especially the theme song part... 4'33" ("Silence"--only the first movement?) fits the bill nicely.

Yes, definitely silence rather than the piece with the radios being mistuned simultaneously! Although, on reflection, I am not sure which is more apt!

Yes, I see your point. But I have a compromise to suggest. You can post all the flame you want, SO LONG AS you post it privately.

I believe that you are your own best reader, and soon you could inflame everything in the forum...but only you would know.

I'm pretty universalist about this--nihilists, zen monks, desert fathers, the painfully shy, the shyly painful, basically anyone who needs to rant, but has too much or not enough voice.

The community which is no community. How curiously Zen.

What is the sound of one thousand posters posting privately?

ah yes but ...can you still make comments to the unseen posts? There should be an LJ feature where you can ...maybe just a date/time of a 'post' but with no username (or content to be seen of course) but a 'reply' feature...

..that might be interesting ;p

I've just added you as a friend, as you were kind enough to post, but of course, if you have it your way, you'll never know. =)

Fun.

I'll add you, too. Welcome.

This makes me want to start a community for people who say the same things over and over. I'll call it "Minor Variations" and have a theme song from Phillip Glass.

That's a good one. Also, the comment popped up twice on my e mail, which is in keeping with the them. I see possibility in this pun. I see a community for people whose posts seem mechanical, jazzy and yet indelibly odd, which we'll call the Conlon Nancarrow forum.

Plus, for the folks who write in twelve clause atonal phrases, we can have the Schoenberg Forum.

I personally would like to think I am the Harry Partch forum, where I invent my own instruments, but I am deeply concerned I am the John Philip Sousa community, all brass and conventionality, with a rather irritating cymbal sometimes.

Sign me up!

I have oodles of posts already written that no one shall ever see...I just keep them in a secret journal with no friends or interests. <wink!>

Oh my goodness...that's almost like using paper to journal!

I have never yet written an LJ private or friends post. Makes me think I need to have one. Perhaps I'll post a friends post about
just how boring I really am!
