I can't believe it. My terrarium was planted
in the little mason jar on Sunday with
marigold seeds. By Thursday evening, the first sprouts have already appeared. Terraria are like
microwaves--they cook everything much faster.
We're still some weeks from the really critical part, though--will an excess of that fertilizer soil in the bottom of the jar lead to early
nitrogen burn and snuffed out 'golds?
Last night I bought another jar--this time a little water jug with fountain spigot. Will it be a wildflower mix, or will I put in tropicals?
Such trivial decisions can make my world a better place.

I am amazed at how much poetry I can write when
I set aside anxiety about its quality, and just
let flow who I am, however silly that may be.

That lesson was put to me in a much cruder form:
Write drunk, edit sober.

So many great writers have taken the first part of
that adage too literally, but I think that the underlying
principle is a good one. Let the creativity happen,
then do any necessary cleaning up.

Taste exists to exclude things; Genius exists to include
things. So I should think the best path to creating
something is to let Genius go first so that Taste can
have something trim up, sand on, polish ...

good post

I like that distinction about drafting.
Of course, until I learn to revise, I will still only be halfway there....

great to see y'all tonight. what a great couple of concerts....I thought it was nice of y'all to help the young fellow have a satisfying night out, and nicer still when a song got dedicated to him....I was really partial to Caroline Herring...always tough to go with folks to venues, though, because they are so non-conducive to real conversation....

tropicals!

Score one vote for tropicals, the traditional and good terrarium choice. Thanks!

I will grow tropicals in the new terrarium, and be as serene, though much more masculine, than the Herbal Essence girl.

Yes. I love marigolds. So simple. So golden.
I once planted seeds for an assortment in May in my yard...when the flowers grew up, the marigolds captivated me...
