I set up the terrarium yesterday with the mason jar like bottle I got for a dollar at Dollar General, marigold seeds I got for a dime from Dollar general, marbles (also Dollar General), potting soil and fertilizer. My wife started to point out that I had used too much fertilizer, but I was grateful when she shrugged and said "it's YOUR science experiment".

Just after I had planted the marigolds, I saw on the seed package
that this variety will grow to 30 inches. The bottle is not 30 inches high. I am interested to see if it works out or not.
The last flower terrarium I did was pansies...they exploded
up in a goldfish bowl terrarium, and bloomed nicely, but
they were SO leggy.

Next weekend I may settle down and do a simple tropical slow growing green plant terrarium, more according to the "form book".

For years I prided myself on being too low tech for scanners or dig cameras, but I'm soon going to have to change my ways.

being a graphic designer, lol i've no excuse but laziness for not scanning things.

i found that having a webcam is great, improves communication with my folks who are back home in ohio, and if i'm lazy while i'm chatting with my online buddy and i want to show him something, or if i want to email somebody something, i can hold it in front of the cam and click and send. lol can't be easier. and all this for $20. btw the phone calls with the parents are free over the internet using netmeeting. i prefer netmeeting, the code is a bit more "secure" and high tech than yahoo messenger's interface... streamlined etc. although yahoo isn't bad either.

the only bummer i see about livejournal, although i don't blame them at all, is that you can't post pics to them you only reference them to the site where you've got it posted. i get why, of course, there's really no other way, but i think they should make an exception just for me don't you think ?? lolol
