I got the yard mowed today, and did most of the weed-eating. I also increased my poem count in [profile] gurdonpoems to 10. The nice thing about this multiple poems project is that I can stretch as to topic and style, because each poem matters even less than before. Tonight I gave a try at writing about Charles Williams, whom I admire enormously, and yet the poem explores his storied failed passion rather than the triumphs he achieved. I made progress on getting my car and my art room in better shape, but I have much to do yet on that front. I took a break to walk in Allen Station Park, where the nature trail to the railroad dam was lined with "false dandelions". I saw a huge monarch butterfly, which made my heart leap.

I got my back yard mowed on Wednesday. One of the things I love about Canada are the tiny lots. It is pleasant doing the lawn with an electric mower, less noise, no fumes. But I ran out of energy, and had too much pain in my joints to do the weedeater. Still have not done it! I read the only two Williams novels my public library has. Thanks for writing about him, I was motivated to look him up with Google, read a short biography.

Williams' 7 novels are great. You may also enjoy his theology. His Arthurian poems (Taliessen through Logres comes to mind) are also quite interesting. A complex life, but an interesting one.

We have a fairly small yard, but here the Bermuda grass grows and invades everything. I am mowing once a week now, but by August, I'll have to mow more often. Keeping the flower beds free of grass is nearly impossible.

I like Canada. I think I could live there. I'd have to live in BC, though, as I'm not that good in cold.

I love the winter up here, such a refreshing change after 50+ years in tropical southwest Louisiana.

After my first two winters, I have not yet had enough snow. I am still like a child at Christmas everytime I see it start to fall!
