I tend to resist learning anything practical. I am much more apt to memorize trivia about faiths in which I do not believe than I am to learn how to make my DVD player work. Therefore, I have always hitherto used "low tech" questions in lieu of the LJ poll mechanisms. But tonight I realized that I wished to try my hand at a poll. I have set the poll so that anyone can play, but that only I can see the answers (assuming I have done it correctly). I keep anonymous comments enabled, so I do not believe one has to be an LJ user to fill out the poll. Nobody has to feel bashful, as I know it is an irritation sometimes to answer open-ended questions in public.

As with all such polls, I ask a series of questions primarily for my own sense of fun. I am sorry that I was not able to generate a quiz which might tell the reader whether s/he is really Lerner & Loeb, Leopold & Loeb or Siegried & Roy, but we must take our steps into a new era one step at a time. In any event, here is my simple poll, in which I hope to discover information to enhance my LJ experience:

[Poll #85409]

Many thanks, in advance, for allowing me to know you a bit better.

Thank you very much for responding. I always like reading you, because we have some of the same background training, and some of the same desire to dream a bit.

You know, I've always wanted to use the poll feature too but hadn't ever...I may have to now!

That's a beautiful icon. What issue of Meridian is that from? I haven't picked up my comics in ages.

Cool! A fellow Crossgen fan! I think this is an upcoming one. I was surfing around and found it and thought it was gorgeous. I love the pastel colors. She's hugging the sail to the big ship to her body. I've only read up to what they've put into the 3rd trade paper book. I know the 4th one is out, but I haven't grabbed it yet. I just recently discovered Crossgen, so Meridian is my first series, but I've read some of Sigil and Scion too at B&N. I want to eventually buy those because I love the art in them.

I've read Meridian, Scion, and Mystic from the start, but Meridian is my favorite--I miss the guy who drew the first issues, because he made Sephie look so charming. I read Sigil for awhile too, but I got bored with it. Space operas just ain't my thang, I guess. :) I want to start reading Ruse as well.

Sephie did look charming in the first issues. She truly looked like a 16 year old girl. I admit, though, I love Steve McNiven's art and I prefer his Jad to the other guy's. I've heard so many good things about Ruse.

It's a side point, but I, too, think that is the coolest icon.

What's a low-tech poll?

:p

...don't answer that. It's probably the ones I post..

There were some thought-provoking questions in that poll, and not nearly enough space in which to give decent answers...or maybe I'm just too wordy. : )

information please

Yes, not enough space in boxes, so I shall write my answers below:

I'd like your journal just the way it is--yours.

If we met we would likely discuss literature and music, but I can't help but think the conversation would turn to observing what was around us from time to time.

I like the comments I get, when I receive them. It's nice to know LJ isn't a void.

I would wish for a time machine that was bigger on the inside than on the outside. This has always been my private desire.

I think people may believe I am portly--rather, I am quite thin; rail-like, even.

Wafer thin and ginger tart.

Information-gathering

Great questions. Are they available for loan?

I'd have to agree with burninggirl and asphalteden: for personal satisfaction, I would have liked a little more room to type my replies. However, knowing my propensity for rambling, and recognising the point of the poll as an information-gathering exercise to address certain points, I adhered to the restrictions enforced by the little boxes. You can always ask for me to expand upon them if you want.

I was surprised at how many people prefer chocolate chip to a hint of spice. I wonder if this is a reflection of our lifestyles these days?

I'd love to hear any expansion you have to offer. I used the default size on the boxes, when my heart said "expand". I should have followed my heart.
