mockingbird and starling, originally uploaded by gurdonark.

This morning I found that my AOL and Yahoo e-mail had been hacked during the previous evening. The e-mail sent log shows that between 3 and 4 a.m., a spambot began sending e-mails containing just the links to all and sundry. When I woke up at 6, I had to change everything to regain control, but I think I have regained it now. This morning a neighbor's dog barked at Beatrice a bit as we walked past. Beatrice, not the most social of dogs when it comes to other dogs (she prefers people, oddly) kept her cool. She let out two little yips and walked on. To get her ya ya's out, she suggested we pick up the pace a bit. We saw a mockingbird and a starling atop a tree. Also, the male ducks have finished their molting and gone from brown to resplendent colors like mallard green.

. When two young squirrels chased one another on the trunk of a tree, Beatrice was sure we could catch one or two. But I thought we might pursue other adventures.

So far, three Yahoo accounts of friends & acquaintances have sent me those spam mails. (Your account wasn't one of them.) I keep checking my own accounts to make sure nothing unauthorized has been sent & nobody but me has signed in.

Some time ago, I got the yahoo "your e mail has been compromised", and had to change all my on line things. This one struck, though, on a completely changed account. I assume I must have tripped on a link that was infected, though Chrome usually warns me.

The latest hacks seem to be new--the e-mails I've received have all been in the last few days. So far they've all been from people who had accounts on both Yahoo and LiveJournal, but that may be just a coincidence.

One of my Yahoo accounts was compromised last year, and while no spam mails showed up in my "Sent" folder then, my sign-in activity showed someone signing into my account from another continent. That problem continued for a while even after I'd changed my password, though it stopped after I changed the password and other account info a couple more times.
