When I think of you, I always think of a kind of pluck. You know,that old-fashioned can-do. I don't mean that you're some Horatio Alger novel--indeed, I don't think you'd make the "earns his quarters and then start a factory of his own" plot go at all.
Instead, I like about you that you are teachable. I suspect that you, like me, believe that people can learn all sorts of things, and they largely must teach themselves. I see your music thing that way--not impressive to me so much in a "wow, he must be incredible" sense, but impressive to me in a "he taught himself how to do this because he's got that can-do thing going".
I get the impression that you're married to someone good for you, and that you're making progress in your life. I have the impression that you cope sometimes with moods that are not always cooperative, but you hang in there and do battle with them.
I don't feel I know you half as well as I should, and perhaps my praise for you tonight is that I wish I knew the other half better.
