Ever since I started putting out the pre-shelled  birdseed, the birds come to feed more readily. I theorize that picking through the shells and other by-products is more taxing.

The little stone bench I use as a feeding station attracts a fairly usual rogue's gallery of visitors:

Blue Jays
Great-Tailed Grackles
House Sparrows
a Carolina Chickadee
Mourning Doves
American Robins
a Cottontail Rabbit
Northern Cardinals

I'm sure there must be Northern Mockingbirds, too, as they nest in our yard most Springs and Summers, but I do not recall seeing them feeding from the little stone bench.

I went out this morning to water the backyard plants. We have a suitable old-fashioned green plastic watering can for the purpose. I filled it with water from the bathtub then watered our little plant array.  This year we have several flowers and small shrub/trees in containers. I like the container plants, though they require a bit more attentiveness as to water in our north Texas heat.

Our weather this morning remains on the perfect side.  It's the kind of warm which is just one level above cool. The sky is sky-blue.
Later it will warm a bit more, but stay just south of miserable. I like this kind of April day.
