Today the weather felt more like May than December. American Goldfinches,a Ruby-Crowned Kinglet and Eastern Bluebirds frolicked in the grass. I worked during the day. I got home at 5:30 p.m. When my wife arrived home near 5:55 p.m., we headed to the Meyerson Symphony Hall in downtown Dallas. We saw the Christmas program by New Orleans' Preservation Hall Jazz Band. They gave a very good show. My favorite parts were a piano medley of Christmas songs; two takes on adding Cuban rhythms to the same piece (the band was just back from Havana); every clarinet solo, and an encore of "when the saints go marching in". I felt happy and in a holiday spirit. I liked the show better than when the band played two years ago, but my wife liked the earlier show better.

We stopped at Denny's on the way home, where I had egg whites, a chicken sausage patty and wheat pancakes for dinner. Now I'm watching once more "Star Trek: Into Darkness", a curious holiday movie.
