desert sojourn
Mar. 23rd, 2014 05:29 pmEach year my wife's father and his wife head to a small house they own in the foothills of the Santa Catalina Mountains north of Tucson, Arizona. We are always grateful to be invited to spend a long weekend with them during their visit.
We just returned today from the latest visit, at which my wife's sister and her family were also present. We had a great time visiting family and enjoying the outdoors. Each morning began with a hike in the Santa Catalina foothills. Each evening ended with family dinners together.

We returned at dawn this morning, with memories of warm family times, a huge garden model train with redwood trestles, incredible sunsets, enterprising hummingbirds, oceans of saguaro, and
the kindest ranger/volunteer in the national parks system. I am four pounds lighter, not counting the lightness of heart.
