8 folks, including the ranger, showed up for the Lake Ray Roberts bird hike yesterday. During the walk, I saw two Cooper's hawks, a yellow warbler, a Baltimore oriole, a great egret, western sandpipers, least sandpipers, cardinals, a mockingbird, and eastern phoebe, killdeer, a great blue heron,
a white-tailed deer, an American crow, grackles, and a red-bellied woodpecker.

I listened to a mandatory continuing legal education course on the new health care act. The course was interesting, but largely a slog through sub-regulations for 90 minutes.

Last night we met our friends Scott and Donna at Cafe Express in Plano. I had a fine roast beef sandwich. Then we went to the movie "Austenland". This was a fun example of a good old fashioned farce. I usually do not like broad farces, but this one had some wit to it. An Austen theme invites the film-maker to make a subtle, furrowed-brow intellectual comedy in which "Emma" and "Northhanger Abbey" allusions led us in quiet, knowing witty smiles to a warm understanding that nobody would really want to live in a Regency novel.
Instead, "Austenland" helps illustrate a less subtle truth--modern folks make everything a big, transparent theme park.

I want to figure out how to use FedUp to upgrade to Fedora 19. It looks simple, except that I want only LXDE and not any heavier GUI. I will sort it out.
