I woke up at 4 a.m. I read the Peter F. Hamilton science fiction book "The Great North Road" for a few hours, finishing the last 125 pages or so. Though I lingered over this book for longer than is my wont, I enjoyed it quite well. The disparate threads of the space opera quilted nicely by the end.

The temperature crossed 100 degrees for the fourth day in a row. I am pretty well acclimated to it. After work, I walked a little on Oak Point Park. I paused by a tree with lots of western kingbirds in it. I watched them fly from tree to tree and then into the tall grass, where they caught grasshoppers and other insects.
