Early this morning I watched the Japanese film "Aruitemo Aruitemo [Still Walking]" on on-demand cable television. I found the movie extremely effective and affecting, in a subtle, quiet way. Later in the morning I walked through Glendover Park. A cooperative mockingbird allowed me to take several photos.

I rode my bicycle on the bicycle path near our home. I stopped at the pedestrian bridge to look around. I saw
a Carolina chickadee who allowed me to approach it, but flew away before I could get a photo.

At 2:30 p.m. I learned at Weight Watchers that I had neither gained nor lost weight this week.

At 4 p.m., we went to a talk on the topic "How Can God Be Good When So Much Evil Exists?" by Dr. John Holbert, a theologian at the Perkins School of Theology. The talk was very good, lacking that "dumbed down pseudo-literal exegesis" feeling that infects so much about church sometimes. The talk featured lots of explanations but few definitive answers--rather like the first year of law school. My wife and I adjourned afterward to the Whichwich sandwich emporium.

In the evening I watched the Dallas Cowboys snatch defeat from the jaws of victory on television.
