The new Creative Commons website Splice Music features a new way for the average person to remix her or his own music, without undue fuss or a home studio.

The site has a little primitive mixing device right there on line, as well as samples to use to create songs. It's not elaborate or difficult to use, and, sadly, there is no flanger, time tunnel delay or fade in/fade out.

Yet it's remarkably fun to combine the easy-access samples to make musical pieces.

In the theme of the celestial news, my first remix there is called Mourning Pluto. I am pleased with how Splice Music makes music-remix-making available to everyone, without the need to download, buy, barter, calculate or sell anything. It's the Lloyd Dobler of music creation.
