Yesterday we drove from our home outside Dallas north through Oklahoma to Kansas City. In southern Oklahoma, snow flurries breezed off our little Toyota. By Tulsa, the snow was a few inches deep. The roads in northern Oklahoma were deeply snowy and slushy indeed. I slowed our car to 30 to 40 miles an hour, we kept long distances between our car and the other cars, and we got through after a lengthy but safe drive. The deep drifts of snow and the wintry white trees were gorgeous. Southern Oklahoma had been deep woodlands with giant crows and fattened hawks.
Northern Oklahoma was like one those 40s movies where Mitzi Gaynor and Bing Crosby sing while the snow machine pelts on the back lot. By Kansas, the snow was lessened. A client called me on my cell phone; by the time the call was over, the snow was gone.

We had a wonderful brunch and present opening family gathering today. My 6 year old niece rode my back as I paced, wishing to look like a horse but probably looking like a bespectacled warg or warthog. Now we've bought our Powerball tickets, and we're settled in resting. It's been a great Christmas day.

We had snow here in New Jersey; a Nor'easter in fact!

I couldn't even make it to the Christmas party I was supposed to go to, since the roads were so bad.

So Bianca and I stayed home and enjoyed Christmas weather, Christmas warmth, and Christmas movies/gifts. What a day!

This was the first white Christmas this area has seen since 1969.
Mr. Gurdonark, did you get my X-mas gift?

It just occured to me: the 'X' in "X-mas" replaces 'Christ.'

Isn't that something! I'd no idea until just now.

The snow was really neat, in that we drove through it,but did not have to really be "in it". We all got powerball tickets last night as a lark, too--very Christmassy, indeed.

Thanks! I love KC. I will work a bit this morning, and then go to that wonderful used book store on Maple Street. It's a bit colder today than back in the Dallas area, but I suppose that it what winter wear is for!

Your package came in the evening before we left. Thanks! I'm really looking forward to reading and listening. I've got a few things of my own to ship, but they will wait until the end of the week! :)

Yes. As I recall, the tradition of Xmas was started to avoid trivializing the "Christ" in Christmas.
