This is actually a good time for you, as your local Chamber music festival is on now through the 18th.

Your local symphony has two interesting programmes coming up.
If you've never seen the oddity which is Carmina Burana, then you might try:
ACTEW Grand Gala - Carmina Burana Friday, June 6 2008 8:00pm Llewellyn Hall Conductor: Nicholas Milton Soloists from Opera Australia:
Teresa La Rocca soprano James Egglestone tenor Jose Carbo baritone Canberra Combined Choir of 320 singers
On the other hand, an interesting didge and Beethoven performance might be just the ticket:
Llewellyn 2 - Joy July 23/24 2008 Llewellyn Hall 7:30pm Conductor: Nicholas Milton Soloist: Kristian Chong - piano William Barton - didgeridoo
Sculthorpe: Memento Mori (Australian premiere of didgeridoo version) Beethoven: Piano Concerto No. 2 in B-flat major, Op. 19 Dvořek: Symphony No. 8 in G major, Op. 88
As I wrote in the post, symphonies are fun in that in some ways the cheapest seats in the highest gallery are amusing, because the orchestra is a distant panorama below, to be taken in from a distance, binoculars optional.
I'll bet there are dozens more similar events upcoming in your hip and happening town, but those are a couple worth checking out!
