Really, truly I think that being goal oriented is the only way to amble through life not in a state of despair! I have tried non-goal oriented paths and things did not only go awry, they went so far off kilter and I plunged so deeply into the pit of ill omen that I would never stick my big toe in that direction again.
Post hurricane I have noticed that the very goal-oriented people have managed pretty well to re-assmble their lives and navigate a new course.

There are so many joys and sadnesses in this beautiful tragic world, I can't help but think that it is natural to set tasks for ourselves and follow the path in a particular direction. There is plenty to gnash our teeth and wail about if that is what we are wanting to do. However, it is much more challenging to see & actually recognize the incredible strength & beauty of a single bumblebee, intent on his goal...gathering pollen in the midst of a one's own personal turmoil. Simple is strong, we humans often make things entirely too complicated. Simple is good. Simple is honest.

btw... I love the dollar store too.
