One thing differs from my childhood days, Weather forecasts in modern times prove more reliable than in an earlier time. They still miss the mark regularly on some issues--as with forecasts predicting whether precipitation will be snow, sleet or freezing rain.  But in general a prediction of a 100% chance of rain nowadays tends to be pretty darn reliable.

As an aside, when we lived in southern California, weather forecasts got the predictions right with uncanny accuracy. This naturally proceeded from living in a place with only ocean to the west. Rain came in without mountains or river valleys to influence it.  The cliche about easy-to-predict weather portrayed in Steve Martin's "LA Story" carried a lot of truth, even if the weather was not quite as perpetually balmy as the movie suggested.

When today's forect called for 100 percent chance of rain, with very little let-up, I took it as near-gospel. I saw the radar maps the television weather discussed. I assumed rain was on the way.

When I found very early this morning that the sky was overcast but not rainy, I gathered Beatrice up for an early walk.  She enjoyed the walk, and we got in and out before the rain began. We had a good time together walking around Glendover Pond. The rain still had not begun, so I went to Oak Point Park in Plano to walk by myself. I enjoyed the wide-open fields and the overcast skies.

I saw a lovely end-of-season Eastern Meadowlark standing on some rocks. I saw my first Indigo  Bunting of the year. This fell in line with an email I got this week that Painted Buntings were an hour north, in the Hagerman National Wildlife Reserve.

I went and got some lunch, and then i walked yet again in Limestone Quarry Park in Frisco. I liked the lizard who climbed the tree.

I started reading the Wool omnibus at deb-artist's recommendation, which I got drmfree from the author. I picked up a Thai meal for my wife from Silver Thai. As i did not want Thai again, I will go get something else.

The promised rain is causing storms to our east, but only a few drops fell here so far. But i expect rain tonight.

One hundred percent chance.
