In the evening interval between early dusk and early dark, I took Beatrice for a walk in Glendover Park. Lightning bugs intermittently lit and unlit. I thought to myself how as an adult I usually call them fireflies, though as a child we knew them only as lightning bugs. I concluded the change was probably a bit of linguistic pretension, and reverted back to the term lightning bug.

Between work and arriving home, I walked in Crowley Park.  I saw a female Ruby-Throated Hummingbird--my first of the year. I took pictures of a Northern Cardinal and a Blue Jay. I heard White-Eyed Vireos call, but did not see them.  An unleashed dog ran to me, unexpected got nervous, and began to bark. Its owner, in a front yard a bit away, called the dog. I prefer dogs on leashes where possible, but it was all fine. A huge stand of bluebells and of Flanders poppies had been planted in the park.

Breakfast: Kix cereal and skim milk
Lunch: turkey sandwich and baked chips
Dinner: salmon, sweet potato fries, broccoli

We stayed up late last night to watch "The Big Lebowski", which neither of us had seen all the way through. We both laughed at most of it. We also watched an episode of Star Trek: Voyager.

I like the man who walks in Heritage Park. He and I often walk there on the little sidewalk around the ballfields at lunch. We pass each other, going in opposite directions. We do not know each other's names, and we do not have any real dialogue. But we nod and say 'hi' and say "good to see you", which is good.
